This is my last try fellas. I've fought the parts battle as hard as I could and I'm down to it now. I was unusually optimistic about getting 'main' and 'rod' bearings (misread a website that said they DON'T have it as they DO have it) and I took everything to the machine shop. Turns out, no bearings.

I'm 'in line' at the machine shop so have about 2 months to source them. If I can't find them by the time I reach the head of the line, I'm going to pick it up and throw in the towel.

I'm going to let go of the wheel if I have to put a 350 in it and just go all out, square body front end, power steering, hwy gears, etc., etc. I hate to do it, but if I can't get it back all orig it doesn't make any sense to keep the rest, as big a pain as it all is.

Anyway, this is the last call for help all. You've been awesome! If anyone has any idea where I can get main/rod bearings for the 305 "A", please let me know. Otherwise, I've got a bunch of parts I'll be listing pretty soon.

I bought main and rod bearings from these guys:

https://egge.com/product/main-bearing-set-158/

Good company to work with.

I saw those. My understanding is though that the 305 'E' bearings are different than the 305 'A' and those are a part of the 'GMC Truck 305 E V6 1966 - GM305EM66' kit.

Okay, I just called them rather than keep speculating. The parts guy says he shows the same for A, C, D, and E!!!!

Well, I guess I'm okay then. I'd love it someone could confirm that, as these aren't exactly cheap. But otherwise...AWESOME!

As far as I know the main bearings from 60-72 are the same for all V6 engines, regardless of CID or year.

In 73 and 74 they went to a larger main bearing size for all V6 engines.
Rod bearings stayed the same during the run.
