We are finally getting around to going through my Dad's various storage places and I have come across a V-6 GMC engine. It looks complete, except for the carb and breather. We are just starting into the building and there may be more.
My question is, Is there any value in this used, condition unknown, motor, or should I send it to the scrap yard?
Thanks,
Greg

Value depends on a couple of things, Greg. First is the engine displacement. If it's just a 305, it won't be worth nearly as much as if it were a 351 or one of the bigger engines. Second is the distance a buyer would have to drive to come and pick it up. I've had to haul a couple of 305s to the scrap yard myself because I couldn't even give them away. But years ago I drove a thousand miles for a 401 and paid $500 for it. So you may want to let the forum members know which V6 you have.

Thanks Ed, I just uncovered it yesterday and will be back there in early August to move more things out of the way. How do I tell what kind of motor it is?

V6 engine size is stamped on top of the block, right in front of the passenger side cylinder head.

We were finally able to move the engines in front of the V6 and I was able to determine that it is a 305C. The engine is missing the front water passage part of the intake.
It is located in Lockwood, MO, a small town in the southwestern part of the state.
There is also a 1960 B-model cab, full size truck, with a complete 305A in it.
We also found a 1960/61 truck parked in the brush. The doors are gone, but it has lots of good grill parts on it. I did not see any dents.
Let me know if you are interested. I am not trying to sell this stuff, just give it to someone who can use it. You just have to contact me and arrange to come and get it. I will NOT part our the 1960 B-Model.
