Sealing valve covers

I love to hear what you guys use to seal up your valve covers. ie. gaskets, RTV, both, etc.)

Mine always seem to leak, no matter what I do. I pressure tested my engine for leaks but never sealed up the valve covers fully because I wanted to run it with the valve covers off first.

Let me know what you use!

I used black rtv and gaskets on my transfer cases and rear end. Gaskets alone don't usually do it, even in my newer vehicles.

I don't know if that says more about the fitment of the mating surface of the parts, or the lack of quality gaskets.
