1/2” Dynaliner might have been aggressive. Floor mat is a bit wonky but functional which is what counts; I guess. Exhaust system Monday. Hope to fire her up soon after.

My baby took her first breaths yesterday. Didn’t get a good video. I’ll try to fire her up again today and post the vid. In the meantime been loose fitting the dash and electrical (American auto wire kit).
Gauge cluster needed a few repairs. Some of the copper on the board cracked and was being jumped by wire from a previous owner. Did a continuity testing around the whole board. Both brakes were at the fuel gauge. Cleaned it up with a wire wheel on the dermal and threw a little solder over it. Everything seems to be working for now. Was also missing one of the ground wires. Couldn’t easily find the type female pin connectors so I used a standard barrel connector. Very close fit but a little loose; lightly crimped it to make good contact but still be able to slide on and off. Only had insulated ones on hand. Was easy enough to strip out. Soldered the wire into the barrel connector instead of crimping so it could be slid into the original round cluster. |

I also notice your GMC has that rare 2 year only horizontal trim molding under the back window.

Thanks funky61. It is gratifying to hear her purr after a couple months work. Hopefully a couple more and I’ll have her on the road. Back cab trim and side trim are in good shape. On the hunt for front windshield trim if anyone has a lead.

Can someone tell me if there is any sort of seal that goes between the inner fender and the frame. Feel like there should be something there but came up dry on the research (first pic, blue tape). I bought 2 of the LMC “inner fender seal” by accident and could use that but I’m worried it could trap water since it is horizontal. I also bought some of the “fender to body bead” not sure where it goes (second pic)

Sounds good!
I've heard that sound a few times in the last 51 years. |
