The pulley is just stuck/rusted on the flange. I see no damage to the front of the flange that could prevent the pulley removal. I'm surprised the flange came off of the crankshaft (cause it is pressed on) without the pulley falling off. Try wedging something between the pulley and the flange.

I was gonna do that but wanted to be sure I wouldn't destroy something. I'm good at accidentally doing that. :teehee:

Yeah, I pulled the 6 screws, expecting it to fall off. When a few taps didn't do it, I assumed it was attached the flange and pulled the whole assembly. :oops:

Well, finally got the power steering done. I went with a different bracket I saw on another site. Had to customize it a little bit, but got it done none the less. The test drive was so nice with the new shocks and power steering :)

Which bracket did you go with and was it all hammer-based customization or just fittings?

I went with the one showed in these pics...not my pics.
I had to fab an extension similar to what is shown.
Since my fab skills don't exist :ahhhh:there was some additional shimming and bending that took place after I made it.

Just random post. As probably stated before, I haven't been doing much to my old truck except driving it. Been driving well since I got it way back in 2014. Hard to believe I have had it 10 yrs now! :ahhhh:


I have been enjoying the power steering for close to a year now with no issues. :rowdybeer:


Turn signals went kaput a couple yrs ago. Haven't been concerned with that, i just test the younger generation's knowledge of hand signals. They don't seem to know what those mean. :teehee:


Brake lights quit working not long ago, so finally had to start trouble shooting electrical. Turns out the aftermarket headlight switch had gone bad. I guess southeast humidity ruins them easily. It's only been installed about 4 years. Once those were good again I plugged my flasher relay in that I pulled a few years ago and with the TS lever in the "off" or "right turn" position I had all blinkers flashing like emergency hazards. :teehee: Prior to pulling the relay way back when I had installed the Classic Parts switch (PN 53-507). So started checking wiring since the colors did not match truck colors. @AZKen has covered the color differences in quite a few posts I have seen. Once it was determined those were all in the proper place on the half moon connector, I disconnected the TSS from the truck harness and performed continuity testing while manipulating the lever between right, left, and off. This confirmed I had shorts in the switch causing all the lights to flash as previously seen.

Took the TSS completely out and over to the bench to see what I could see. Turns out the blades inside were shorted in various places. See attached

Original blades look much more stout. See attached.

After fiddling with those flimsy blades I was finally able to get proper continuity to all the right places on the bench. So, reassembled everything and gave it a try...only rears signals would work. Putting a little extra pressure on the TS lever, i could get fronts, so still a switch problem. :banghead:

I hate to remove this thing repeatedly, as I have little spare time these days; so, is there a better aftermarket version of the TSS than what is sold by classic parts? One that maybe undergoes a little better quality control before being shipped? :pullinghairout:

Well, while rummaging through boxes in the shop I stumbled across the original TSS. I thought had tossed it out a while back. Going to troubleshoot it and see if I can get it all to work. I like the stoutness of it better. The only thing it definitely won't do is cancel the signal after turning. Those little "wings" the cancelling cam hits are gone. But if I I can get the rest of it to check out, I am putting it back in.

I have tried to resurrect some old AC threads to no avail, so I will just ask here. I have a Vintage Air universal kit I bought for another project car 6 yrs ago. Since I still don't have that project on the road, I am going to shove the kit in Rusty. The only thing I am lacking is a bracket for the compressor. If anyone has pics with brackets they used, please post here, along with any information on PNs used, modifications to said PNs, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. I have seen pics on here of multiple styles of brackets, but not enough info to go with it on ordering/modifying/making it. Hotrodjohn seemed to have a good one, but he's MIA. Hopefully he is still hanging in there in his later years. Thanks everyone.

For Ac, I can't help there. I was going to go with Vintage Air on Cecilia, but I decided I liked 2/55 air conditioning just fine for my runnin' around.

Here is how the factory did it in 67-69. I've not seen many with this set up, only photos here and there.

Yeah, I used to be that way, but summers here in Alabama are getting to tough as I get older. :lol: 97 just a couple days ago. Tough ride home after work, in rush hour, after it baked in the parking lot all day.

Holy cow that would sure be toasty! Alabama isn't for the cold natured folks that's for sure. But you got good fishing so that probably makes up for it!

Post pics when you get a path sorted out. I might copy some of your stuff when it comes time to add AC to mine. :thumbsup:

I have Maintenance manuals for 62, 63, and 64, but not 67. Gonna look back through those though, and see if the have the same anywhere in them.

Well the 64 manual (X-6423) primarily references most of the A/C stuff back to the 62 manual (X-6223). It only had this little blurb (see thumbnail).


Now check out that monster compressor in the 62 manual. :ahhhh:
Some of y'all have probably see that, but it looks huge on the 351 engine

I saw that one. His was a 401 with some special ear off the water pump or something. It looked good though.
