Wire Harness

OK, I am just about ready to begin installing a wire harness but all those I see are for 18, 20 and more circuits and the prices increase accordingly. Has anyone put in a rather basic harness, no radio, no AC, nothing other than what came in this 65 K1500 with HD Heater and Power Brakes. What does anyone suggest for proper function now and perhaps a few additional gauges later on down the road? Jim Hyde, Phx AZ

Re: Wire Harness

Most of those aftermarket guys build Chevy Wire Harness, not GMC so your goign to find a lot of things differant if they think both are the same.

The Power Brake don't use any eletricity. Myself I would just get me some wire and build my own. you can remove each section and rebuild what you need one wire at a time.

Re: Wire Harness

Ji,

I used the 21 circuit E-Z Wiring harness for $185. capped them off the block. I'll never know IF I'll add any other things (Power antanna etc), but wanted the option to still be there. You can get a very limited version of the blocks.

I'm not bashing any other company, but I will stand by E-Z wiring. After Katrina wiped out everything I owned, they replace the harness free of charge as well as the dash cluster. You can't beat that.

Re: Wire Harness

Like the look and price of the EZ 21, found one on EBAY, looks to be color coded so I ordered it. Would really liked to have been able to use the orig that came in the truck but all the connections on the backside are rusted and some connection points kinda "melted". Anyway, item should be here by next weekend so will look forward to beginning the install process. Thanks for the recommend, Jim Hyde - Phx AZ
