Hello All,

My wife and I recently inherited this 1963 GMC Custom. It is definitely in need of some love and elbow grease. My wife joined a few Facebook groups, so I thought I would join here to share progress and seek advise as we need it. We both have automotive experience, but neither of us have taken on a project as in depth as this one.

The truck is a 63' 1/2 Ton, Long bed (127" WB), out of Oakland. Bought new in the Bay Area, and now we will be the second owner. Still has the original V6 305E.

It currently has aftermarket wheels and tires on it, but the originals are there with it. We have the original chrome hub caps as well.

The truck comes home soon, and then the fun will begin. I'll continue to post updates as things move along.

Welcome to the forum, Cooper! We'll all be looking forward to updates and more photos as your project progresses. Just make sure you keep that V6!

Welcome Cooper, you will NOT find a more knowledgably group on the 60-66 GMC series anywhere. We love pictures.

Oh don't worry, the V6 is staying for sure! I didn't know much about the history behind it and originally suggested a resto-mod build with a fancy new crate engine. My wife politely educated me on that one, so the V6 stays.

Welcome Cooper :welcome:

I see you got the fancy rear view mirrors! What's the story on the inheritance? That wife sounds like a keeper. It's tough to find a girl anymore that cares about antiques unless you can fit them on a shelf. From my own experience, keep the fuel and oil clean and your truck will last forever. Keep the chocolate flowing and you'll get many miles out of the wife too!

Can't wait to see the progress!
