Horn problems

1965 GMC 305 V6
The portion had a manual horn button mounted under dash. So I started investigating, no relay. Installed new one. Traced wiring. Found ground wire to steering column. Pull horn assembly off of wheel.removed parts. Tested for ground. Spring loaded contact plastic was craked. Ordered horn kit from classic truck, for a 65 GMC. When parts arrived I went to install the same before installing everything I checked for power again from the spring-loaded switch when I grounded out the horn blow yeehaw. next I start of assembling everything according to directions now I cannot get the horn to even work at all as I try to put it together it'll raq-c find a ground in the weed on it'll blow as I type as I tighten the ground is lost. I'm sending three pictures one is the wheel with everything out of it 2 is the original hardware & 3 will be the aftermarket anybody can help me at deeply appreciated

Re: Horn problems

Sounds like a grounding issue, which I've found many horns tend to have problems with. Doesn't matter if it's an old GMC or a HMMWV -- bad ground kills horns (amongst other things).

BTW - I grew up in Toms River. Hiya :)

I've found a good way to host pictures without worry of them being torn down is to use my Google Plus photo album. Since I use that site anyway, it's easy to link the pictures to web forums, etc., simply by clicking "Copy Image Location" and putting it in the "img" brackets.

Don't know if that works for you, but I hope it helps :)
