Correct radio Antenna?

Does anyone have a good stock radio antenna source. I sent the radio off to be upgraded to FM/iPOD. The ones in most truck part suppliers are not OEM

The one at Classic Trucks says "original". That is OEM.

I see that one and have a hard time swallowing $79.99 for an antenna. I'll check some other suppliers.

Understood. Pretty pricey. I just thought you couldn't find OEM. I checked for one awhile back and they are all in that range or higher. Have not seen a N.O.S one yet. Also don't know why 60-62 is different than 63 and 64-66. Fits in same place. Must be AM/FM/receiver related? The visible mast looks the same.

Thanks, I bought one of the $89 wonders and it sits at a screwy angle. The hole in the Cowl was put in at the factory because it has the small rectangular notch. The only thing I can think to do is grand off some of the base to set-angle? My hole seems higher than other trucks.

I see, by the Chevy Truck picture you posted, that you have studied the issue. So have I.
I am looking for one also for a 1960.
The location of the hole changed during 60-66. These changes are best studied with available Chevy info. Unknown if GMC followed the same changes. The changes may have been made due to signal reception, hood clearance, extension of antenna under the sheet metal or for better bracketry. At any rate, I see two different new right side extensions being sold on Ebay. Both have what I will call a "top" hole. These top holes are in a little different location but still not an the "side". One of them says it's specifically for GMC. I do not see any new extensions offered with a side hole shown in your Chevy pic. The picture you posted of the white Chevy has a supposed N.O.S. 1960 antenna. It is angled for a side hole and has a template that may or may not be deciphered and used (for a Chevy). Now that I see all this, I'm going to find an antenna that works with the hole I have and call it good. This is a lot of BS over a small issue I know. But you and I are stuck with just getting it done.
I will say if I bought an antenna from Classic Trucks for a 1960 and it did not sit straight using their fender extension, I would get money back. If you say it won't fit your truck, they may say your hole is wrong. Maybe they come with a template. I would expect that we need the type that has a little angle adjustment to it. Good luck to both of us. I have searched the internet for GMC and most pictures show the "top" hole on the flat part of the extension, like yours, like mine. Go figure.
Sorry to say but the cheapie universal are the only ones I see so far that mount on the "flat".

You could possibly cut the bezel, the rubber may cover your cut. It may chip the chrome. You can find a flatter bezel from some other brand truck or car. I have spotted a few car antennas on Ebay that look promising. Maybe someone here will straighten us out on this.

Re: Correct radio Antenna?

Hey Jake. I ran into this with my first antenna. I sent it back and they sent me the "other" antenna. which works perfectly. Whoever is making them makes two versions. One has much more angle on the base which is for cowls with a lower mounting hole. And one has less angle on the base for cowl holes where yours is(and mine too). I think there were only two different cowl hole positions ever used. So if one base does not work, The "other" one will by default. Later, GM

I bought it over two years before I took it out of the park bx, so I have to buy another one.

Re: Correct radio Antenna?

I would send whomever I ordered a picture of the actual cowl on your truck. Send a picture of the wrong base and talk to someone in person that sees the pictures your emailing the company. Could save another mess up. As for the old one, swap meet fodder or sell it for what it is a little less than a new on costs and save someone a few bucks, while you cut your losses. Good luck whatever you do, GM

Here is my 1960 Model 1002 when someone else went thru what you are dealing with now. I just happened upon these. Hope they help, GM
