Metal stapler

Some of the body seals on the fenders have rubber stapled to sheet metal. Does anyone know what kind of stapler will drive a staple through 20 gage sheet metal? It is also on the hood to radiator seal.

Thanks,

Is there any chance that the holes could have been pre-punched?

Terry,

I had the sample issue, IF you have the oem metal parts, they should have holes in them, but if not use a small gage nail to punch the hole and follow through with a heavy wire (coat hanger wire) work great. I also put down a bean of 3-M adheavsive to make sure they stied where mounted. I had more trouble with th clips that attached them to the fender.

Hope this helps.

I used floral pins. Yes, that is what they are called. See discussion and picture here:

I used a very small drill bit, drilled holes where needed, & used the staples that came with my new seals. Time consuming but worth it in the end. I am pretty sure I used the handle end of a screw driver to press the staple down to not mar the new paint. Donrm Cinti,oh 1966 GMC 351E
