New in Town!

https://scontent-dft4-2.xx.fbcdn.net...4d&oe=586B32F4Hey guys, Just picked up a 66 Burb and found yall's great forum. Yep I'm from the south. HaHa!
I own a Custom Upholstery shop in Oklahoma City, and I am going to use this truck for my Show/Family Fun vehicle. Everything is there and in really good shape. It belonged to a Farrier for a long time then was sold to an old Hot Rod guy here outside the city. I chatted with him about the truck and now we are trading an interior in his 32 Roadster for the truck.

From what I can tell this beauty has a lot of options. Power steering and brakes, A/C, Custom Cab Chrome package, tissue dispenser, Tachometer,Passenger visor mirror. I am new to this era of trucks so any comments on the truck are welcome.

Also, if anyone has any general interior questions, please drop me a line here: gbcustoms2014@yahoo.com or send me a message on facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/GBCustomsOkc/

I will start a build thread when all the action gets underway.

Here are a few pics of my guy:

GB - Welcome. Members of this Forum can provide a lot of good information about the 60-66 GMC trucks.

I have a general interior question and would come to your shop, but California is a long ways away from Oklahoma City.

For years, I have looked at the solid metal dash of my 1964 GMC 1500 pickup and wondered what could be done to keep it from putting a crease in the head of passenger (already wearing a seat belt). Do you have any thoughts about how a padded dash might be added to prevent this?

Much earlier in life, I had a 1965 Ranchero for which I was able to purchase a pre-fitted dash pad that covered only the front of the, again, solid metal dash board.

Thanks for the welcome!

bobdylan: mostly stock. I am a custom upholstery guy so the inside will get my treatment. I will keep all the stock parks and build my interior so as to do as little damage to the truck as possible. The engine will get freshened up and left in for the time being. It is getting harder and harder to get all the necessary parts to make these guys DD reliable. Lowered with disc conversion front and rear and new suspension components. The interior metal will get painted but the outside is staying patina with a flaked clear over it.

jrmunn: I don't know if anyone makes a slap on padded dash, I would't bet on it. I would solve the problem with laying a layer of thick closed cell foam, shape & sand, then Cover in leather or vinyl with a French Seam along the peak.

fetchmeapepsi: Sorry about the pics. I'll watch your video before I post anymore. I just used the insert button and pasted in the url for each one from my company facebook page.

Re: New in Town!

These v6's have been known to last a long time if kept tuned up and good oil used. Know of several that past 300,000.
Tune it up, get some good oil in it, and don't rev it past 3500 rpm and it'll last a Long time.
I am jealous of all those options though. haha Look forward to seeing the progress. :ok:

Re: New in Town!

Yes it does. The only options I think it does not have is the bumper guards, rear side sliding glass and middle row seats. it is the short wheelbase, does that mean it couldn't have the third row seating?

Re: New in Town!

Yes you could get the third seat (short one) in that wheelbase and you'd have dual sliding windows with that as well.
Is your rear seat on a slide rail or bolted to the floor?
