Horn blows

My horn only works when I turn the steering wheel to the left or right. I took steering wheel off and as far as I can tell it looks fine. The wire that runs down the column also looks ok. Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks
Greg

Re: Horn blows

It could be that the contact spring has lost tension or the horn contact is cockeyed in the switch housing. I hope this is of some assistance in the repair of this problem.

Re: Horn blows

That seems like a slip ring problem. Nothing changes when you turn the steering wheel except where the plunger contact contacts the copper ring, May be a dead spot or two or spring is weak as Lewis says. Clean the tip of the contact and the ring surface.

You are grounding the circuit up there, so any dirt, corrosion or paint inside steering wheel depression/counterbore will not allow shorting of slip ring to ground.
