66 clutch

Hi,
I just got a 1966 GMC 305 with a V6. PO removed the clutch and 3 speed trans.
PO may have installed the wrong/bad pressure plate. He Installed a SM420, looks like the pressure plate is stuck, 1000 pounds will not move the fingers.
I need a 11", 10 splines. 1 1/8 dia.

I spent hours looking for a clutch kit, but no luck for less than $300.
Please let me know the part number and a place to order.
What other models and years are compatible?
My second choice would be to buy a used one, if I could find one.
Any help would be great. Ordered ball bearing for flywheel.

I'm new to this forum and finding GM parts.
Thanks,
Wayne in Gilroy, CA

welcome wayne to the forum. The kit you are looking for, p/n 04-528, is made by AMS and can be found on ebay, rockauto, and several other on-line sellers. it sounds like the PO put in a CHEV clutch kit will not fit.

Re: 66 clutch

Looks like that is a 12" clutch.
My flywheel holes are 12-7/8", are you sure it will fit?

AMS AUTOMOTIVE 04528
Pressure Plate Size (in)12
Disc Size (in) 12.000 X 1.125 X 10T

Thanks

Re: 66 clutch

Ws, thr clutch you ordered will not fit the gmc v6. The p/n i referenced, 04-528, is the only clutch that will fit thar flywheel. I worked for napa for almost 25 yrs and for my family's shop for 21 yrs prior. I have spent my life in parts. Please listen to what i am saying.
