401M Overhaul Done

Finally got my 401M overhaul finished. Put on a couple hundred miles and all seems well.Ended up .030 bored,New pistons and rings, rod, main, and cam bearings.Ballanced the rotating assembly. 650 AVS2 Edelbrock carb and MSD ignition, keeping the points. 21/2 in exhaust with Jones turbine mufflers. I hope the tranny is going to hold. All I can say is WOW what a difference from the 305. It's got some burrs now. :upyes::upyes: Dave

Sounds great that you are on the road again! Just wondering if you reground the cam to the specs you got from Big Block? When I rebuilt my 351M I had a new cam reground to the specs. Seems that the cam kicks in around 2500 rpm - never have had engine reach 3000 rpm so only have used a small power band. You don;t live to far from me - we probably have seen each other! good luck with your build.:welldone:

No I did not do any thing with the cam other than bearings. I had a hard enough time finding parts and wanted to get it running. Just about gave up finding parts. Dave
