New to thread with a 64 3/4 305V6 fleetside

I re-aquired my /64 pickup after it sat at a farm for 6yrs with a bad gas tank.

Wondering to any an all, where do i start. It's being towed to CA in a couple weeks, I'm thinking of putting in the gas tank, filling with high mileage fluids incl leak-stop and running it until I am sure no major leakage.

Fist time I've reconditioned a vehicle, any thoughts? TY

If the gas tank is bad I would definitely not waste time trying to use it. I would first see if a radiator shop can repair it. If not repairable, a new replacement tank would be your next option. A good clean fuel system is the key to getting it running again. Good luck and welcome to the club!

I don't want to repair a tank, better to get new one. I see some indications that the tanks don't have float/sender unit and some do. Any way to tell if sending unit is 60ohm or 90 for this vehicle?

30 ohm. If you get a new sending unit, I would confirm that it's 30 ohm.
I think you'll be happy with a new tank.

I just did my tank due to rust and other fun stuff. (if you want to see a walk through, it's in my build thread) A new tank is expensive, but it's worth every penny. All the "repair" options I found were only temporary and seemed to fail over time.

I will look for your build thread on replacing the tank. Thanks!
I have found they are aprox 150 then another 30-50 for the sending unit, does that sound fair market value?

Great build thread:goodjob:, looks like you're having some 'helpers' keeps it fun!
My helper is a 57yr old brother... not as much fun but we can have a beer together after, so there's that. :-)
