4x4 motor and frame mounts
Does anyone have a really good pic of a 4x4 V6 motor and frame mount for both sides of a 66 4x4 GMC. Trying to make sense out of these parts I have. Putting the correct V6 back in to my 66 that's been converted to a V8. Somethin's a missin?! :pullinghairout:
If you happen to have some can you shoot me an email, please? bryan.block409@gmail.com |

Re: 4x4 motor and frame mounts
I can send you some pics of my 68 frame and engine installation. Though it is a 68 the frame is very much the same as the 60-66 other than the front frame horns are designed different for the bumper mounting.

Re: 4x4 motor and frame mounts
The 60-66 4x4 frames are completely different than the 67-72 4x4 frames. Different cross members . Springs mounts. Engine mounts. Springs. That's just up front. Peter you don't know what you don't know

I forgot more than most people know. And I forget nothing. Barry.

You're correct! But it's not What I don't know it's rather what I don't remember and now that my memory is refreshed I do recall the 60-66 K series have more clearance between the engine cross member and oil pan. The 67-72 trucks were a low profile design, my oil pan nearly touches the cross member not allowing the use of the larger series truck 8 quart oil pan. |
Re: 4x4 motor and frame mounts
Well. You are making me go back to 1988. I normally don't do this with out looking at what I have done. But I remember just moving the cross member forward and drilling the motor brackets for a 401 engine.. Barry

Re: 4x4 motor and frame mounts
Yea pretty sure the 60-66 is different. Didn't even think there was a crossmember under the oil pan, thought the mounts bolted between the C-channel of the frame and the motor bolted freely between the frame rails. This is the way my V8 is, of course it doesn't belong there either. 2wd and 4wd completetly diff, I do know that.
Can't wait to see what fetchmeapepsi has to show me. Thanks again guys, I can't quit till I figure it out and get it moving. Bryan |

I can't get to the house before dark today but I had the RedHead take some pics of the mounts. Hope this helps. If you need a different view let me know. I'll be in my "dirty clothes" on Thursday so I can crawl all around and get pics of whatever.

Re: 4x4 motor and frame mounts
Thanks a bunch,
If you have any of the proper frame mounts that would be awesome. And if anybody has some 4wd frame mounts they would like to part with, I'm a definite buyer. Thanks again everyone. Bryan |
