Mechanical uel pump
Does the mechanical fuel pump on a 1962 GMC V6 1000 Series require a spacer plate between the fuel pump and the block? Google says yes. Is that correct?

Re: Mechanical uel pump
Google has yet to put any of our trucks together correctly.
No, you don't need a spacer, just a gasket. |
Re: Mechanical uel pump
Here's what Google says to the following question, Does the 1962 GMC V6 with a mechanical fuel pump require a spacer between the fuel pump and the block? "Yes, a 1962 GMC V6 engine with a mechanical fuel pump typically requires a spacer (often phenolic or plastic) between the fuel pump mounting flange and the engine block. This spacer helps manage the heat transfer from the block to the pump, preventing vapor lock, and sets the correct operating depth for the fuel pump arm to prevent over-pressuring the carburetor."

in this instance, google is dumber than a box of rocks in the middle of a river with the lid off and a hole in the bottom at flood stage.:lolsmack2:

Re: Mechanical uel pump
This is what the search says:
A standard 1962 GMC V6 (such as the 305 series) with its original mechanical fuel pump does not require a mounting spacer. The pump is designed to bolt directly to the engine block with only a gasket to ensure a proper seal. |
