Before 1964 GMC had a completely different selection of colors from Chevrolet, though some colors may resemble the other division's they are different. For instance in 1962 GMC used Delta Green which dated back to the mid 50's and Chevrolet used Woodland Green. Both were similar to a forest green, the Delta green had a brown cast while the Woodland green had a blue cast. If you were to find actual color charts from that era you would find a different selection between the two divisions. Like many instances presently many assume it was all the same thing for both divisions but that really didn't happen until 1969 when GMC completely took on all the same colors from Chevrolet. That is why it's important to have the right number code for the color.
