Post Question: Are there any VIN search engines that I can use to track down a 1965 Chevy Step side in TX?

Just located the VIN for my great-grandfathers 1965 Chevy Step side. I thought it was in the scrap yard, but met a guy last year who told me he purchased it around 2010, pulled it from the field, and got it running again after years of neglect. He said that he sold it to someone around San Antonio, TX. But unfortunately he couldn't remember the buyers name or where he put the bill of sale. It's been impossible to locate.

I always thought that I could track it down if I only had the VIN. After a lot of looking, tonight I stumbled across a insurance policy from 1971 that contained the VIN.

But, nothing ever works as easy as you want it to. Apparently, it's a 12 digit VIN and there are no 12 digit VINs in the Texas VIN database. Or, perhaps the new owner just hasn't registered it. Does anyone know of a site for TX VIN searches that will provide History Reports on pre-1980 vehicles?

Thanks!!!
