I don't need the 3/4 ton capacity so the decrease in spring strength is really no problem. The after market drop shackles are listed as being half ton, so...
The question I'm wondering is are the widths of the leafs the same?
Are the mounting points the same from 1/2 to 3/4 ton?
I'm planning on changing the shocks same time.
Is there anything else I'm failing to consider?

The springs are the same length, shackle to mount. Width they appear to be since we just removed a 1/2 ton rear on a '66 and bolted up the 3/4 ton rear, complete axle/spring removal, complete axle/spring install. Bolted right up, probably the easiest part of the whole thing.
As long as all you are doing is changing the shackle, shouldn't be a problem for you (clearance to frame means you aren't loading anything in the back). we ran into trouble with the driveline, the pumpkin on the 3/4 ton is deeper than the 1/2 ton so needed a longer driveline. But you aren't changing the axle itself, right, so that won't matter in your case.
