Default Re: Nate's Micellaneous Vehicle Thread

I don't know what I'm doing, but it's working.

Well, I kind of know what I'm doing. A friend of mine has an old 1998 Suburban. A local shop rebuilt the motor (BBC 454) and it locked up shortly after. They don't want to help him. So I decided to find a junkyard motor to refresh and install. Unfortunately the junkyard motor was junk and the oil pan was full of shrapnel, so I ended up doing a full rebuild. I've never done this before, so I'm learning as I go. It has been fun and educational so far. I don't have a picture, but the heads are on. All that's left is to install the oil pump, then it will officially be a long block.

I had the crank polished, decked the block, resurfaced the heads and had the valve seals replaced, new cam bearings, new OEM camshaft, bored .020 over with SpeedPro pistons. Reused the old valve train components because they seemed to be in surprisingly great shape.
