Default Re: Nate's Micellaneous Vehicle Thread

I realize I never gave a progress update on the 4Runner.

The 3.4L swap was completed around September of 2024. I took it to an exhaust shop because I needed a custom exhaust made for it. The original 3.0L runs the exhaust down the driver side while the new 3.4L runs down the passenger side. I needed the exhaust down the driver side in order to avoid running exhaust near fuel lines on the passenger side. I also needed a new catalytic converter welded in. After all that was done I went through the DMV and got official engine swap paperwork from them. My 2nd Gen 4Runner is now running a 3rd Gen engine while being smog legal.

After it's completion it has been a reliable vehicle. It has significantly more power now. Only thing I did wrong was not replacing the camshaft plugs while I had the engine on a stand. They're leaking now. Live and learn.
