Very happy how it all turned out.
Installed the rebuilt SM420 transmission, hooked up all the linkages. Primed the oil pressure before installing distributor. Before starting I let the engine turn over on starter without plugs until it built up oil pressure. The new starter turns the engine over much better than the old one. Hooked up a gauge instead of the sender. Oil pressure is real nice @ 60 psi. Poured gas in the tank, primed the carb, installed plugs and started her up.

I'm running 10W-40 with ZDDP. It's a local brand oil, by Eurol. With the oil pan spacer and filter the oil capacity is close to 7 qts.

Ended up running it for about 10 minutes at around 800-1000 rpm, then checked for leaks. No oil or coolant leaks except for my temporary oil pressure gauge.

The carb leaks a little bit around the accelerator pump, hence the rags.

When the engine was up to temp I checked valve lash and then installed the valve covers. Removed temporary oil pressure gauge and installed sender.
Spent the rest of the day getting the front end together.

Now onto the exhaust. Gonna weld up a single exhaust, the same as comes from the factory, but in 2.5" stainless steel. Stay tuned and wishing you all a happy new year!
