I would have to say the original paint on these trucks was Alkyd Enamel and not laquer, Yes GM did paint passenger cars starting in 1957 with Acrylic Laquer but trucks stuck with oil based enamels. Though you won't get Alkyd enamel now a days, you can still find Acrylic Enamel or Catalyzed Acrylic Urethane. PPG paints is still pretty good with making formulas for older vehicles. Now if you live in many areas of California and possibly other states that may be more stringent your choice may be limited to water base paints that are not formulated for earlier colors. Being a California resident I have found paint companies in other states that sell Acrylic Enamel online and will ship anywhere.
