Okay - I have received an "official" response: no VINs - full or partial - on the 1965-66 GMC pickup frame anywhere (and presumed earlier years). The VIN is on a plate attached in the cab door opening only, in the center above the door (65-66). No longer a mystery; aliens do not exist.
