Remove the cross over pipe however way you choose. Those flange bolts are a lot of trouble to get out. Then remove the flywheel cover but not the flywheel. Then loosen the rear motor mounts and the transmission mount. Put a hydraulic jack under the front portion of the transmission case and slowly lift it up an inch or so. That pan should slide back and down with just enough clearance to get past the flywheel. I took off the oil filter and it's canister also, just to give you a little more working room. Good luck with those exhaust bolts.
