Here I go digging up old threads....but for the record....

Clear lps were standard until late '63.
In the middle of the '63 model year, Federal DOT mandated that the front turn/park lps on all street legal vehicles would be amber. If your GMC was built late in '63 or any time thereafter it should have amber lenses.
To comply with DOT regs with the least amount of modifications, trucks with the clear lenses could be outfitted with amber bulbs.
