Default Re: AC PM-9T Filter canister

Here is the inside of a canister. Spring underneath as bolt goggles from side to side.

Here is a description posted from the Archives aka Previous Forum Posts section, by Rod Issaquah, on how the oil canister bolt goes together.

Quote:
Charlie, I spent a considerable amount of time with that 2 quart oil filter canister, from my 7500 series 401M motor. I had continuing small oil losses from the bottom of the canister. I finally was able to get the bolt out, but it was several years ago. i think there was a small wire snap ring down inside, on the bolt, that held the bottom filter plate and spring from falling out when it was inverted. There is a gasket under the head of the long thru bolt; then inside, from bottom to top is a spring, flat washer, gasket, lower filter support plate, and the wire snap ring, which fits into a shallow groove on the bolt. That is how I remember it. Getting the snap ring loose on the bolt took some doing and it may get damaged, but even if it does; as long as you don't loose any parts, and get them back in in the correct order, it should work just fine without that snap ring. Just remember to save the parts the next
time you change the oil, or they will all fall out with oil filter. Rod Johnson Issaquah, Wa
