If you have a 60-66 GMC that's actually a model 1000 (half ton) per the title and VIN plate, it will have 6 lug wheels if it's still stock. A stock model 1500 (3/4 ton) will have 8 lug wheels. If you come across a model 1000 with 8 lug wheels, a previous owner may have swapped the rear axle and front hubs out for 3/4 ton parts. Another possible explanation would be a cab off a half ton truck installed on a 3/4 ton truck frame.
