1962 305 Carb spacer has cuts in line with throttle shaft
I got a phenolic carb spacer to replace the original spacer on my 1962 305 that is crumbling apart. The original spacer and the gaskets above and below it have slots that are like extensions of the throttle shaft. Anyone know what these are for and if I should replicate these cuts on my new spacer and gaskets?

Re: 1962 305 Carb spacer has cuts in line with throttle shaft
I decided they wouldn't make these cuts if they weren't needed, so I took the old gaskets and spacer and put them on the carb base to see if I could see the purpose of the cuts. It looks like there is a small passage in the main body of the carb that the cuts transfer manifold flow or vacuum to. So 15 minutes with dremel and a carbide burr, and gasket punches and a knife, and the cuts are replicated. I just realized I didn't need to make the relief slots in the gasket under the spacer.
