			Folks:

Just replaced lower ball joints on my 1966 1000 series truck. Lower ball joints press in underneath a arm on my truck. When I removed the old ones using a loaner press from AutoZone, one had a spot weld to the a arm and the other side did not. Instructions with the press mentioned that this could be the case for some manufacturers. My question is if anyone else found such welds and are they factory or redneck engineering?? Thanks for any advice you can offer. Regards Steve New Orleans |

STEVE, THAT IS USUALLY DONE ONLY WHEN THE HOLE IN THE LOWER ARM IS LARGER THAN THE OUTSIDE OF THE BALL JOINT BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS INSTALLER DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO SHRINK THE METAL.

Thanks for your response. I haven't put a weld back on it. I didn't notice any particular looseness when I put it back. Decided to just watch it and see if it has any movement. Regards Steve New Orleans |
