What differential is this?
Spider gears broken, case say's "44" but doesn't look like any I see. Apparently a 3:53 ratio by tooth count. I'd like to go Higher, maybe 3:23? came out of my 62 burb. HELP! 305 v6 GMC

Re: What differential is this?
I can see some numbers stamped into the case. Those might help identify it if you don't think it is stock. 3.54 was a stock ratio for the Dana 44 in a GMC. GMC also offered a 3.07. To the best of my knowledge, GMC didn't offer a 3.23, but it is available as an aftermarket gearset.

Re: What differential is this?
Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!! Now all I have to do is find a replacement with 3:02 gears so I can cruze! Will any aftermarket "DANA 44" unit work? Was thinking about a 3:23 or so to get me out of everyones way on the highway! Also was thinking about just going with a standard rear intead of "locking" will it go in this rear housing?
