Default Extra Bumpers?

Does anyone know if this spot on the hood is for extra bumpers?

I suppose that is possible, both if my 64+ hoods don't have that. Could they be unfolded spot welds?

This past Saturday another 66 was at the cruise nite and after speaking we both agreed that the holes are probaly drain holes as that lip would tend to hold water. It does make a certain logic.

The hood bumper kits sold all over include two round bumpers that did not go anywhere on my '64 GMC but could likely fit a '60-1 since the bumper kit is sold as fitting '60-66.

my hood had all 4 pads still intact (2 square front and rear) , I was going to replace them (I've done just about everything else) but when I got the kit even though it's abled 60-63. I think they're meant for a later year.

you get two square flat rubber bumpers for the rear and two round one for the front. The other holes along the front edge are for water to drain out we suspect, as the holes are larger than a small screw or rivet hole.
