Default Silly question.... F250 Powerstroke oil & VC cleaner

Guys,

It is not I want to save money on oil but I've got new on the shelf some Motorcraft oïl for F250 heavy duty powerstroke diesel laying there.

Do you think I could use that oïl in the 305? I think it's 10w30 but for heavy duty diesel?

Second question, I also have some Motorcraft VC cleaner also for a F250, do you think I could use it to clean the cooling system before dumping new fresh coolant liquid?

Thanks

Dylan

It should comply with the recommended viscosity for your climate/motor. If it has an "S" rating like SN as well has the diesel rating of "C" or CJ-4, it is definitely OK. Without going into the sulfur (in diesel fuel of the past), soot control, etc.
There are "mixed fleet" oils for both D and Gas. Most of the non-wiki internet says OK. Bottom line is: I would feel better using regular oil even though I know it will be OK. It's just not worth the $35 to wonder. D oil is not to be used on most emission equipped motors, mixed fleet oil excepted.
