Default GMC 702 V12 interchangable parts

Evening Ladies and gentlemen,

New to the forum here. I'm building a 702 I picked up a couple months ago. I constantly hear that 56 parts are interchangable between this engine and the V6. Does anyone know what those 56 parts are ? Looking to see what I can get easier for parts searches.

Also does anyone know if the gasket set for a 305 will work for the 702 ?

Thanks in advance

Brian

What do you mean by 56 parts? Valve cover gaskets will work off of 305 not many others. Early Chevy Bel Airs with auto transmission hydraulic lifters will work. You can get standard and 030. piston ring s from hastings. I have lots of used parts if needed.

Hello, Brian: Almost, if not all parts are inter-changeable with the 351 V6. I understand that only thing unique to the V-12 from two 351s is block, oil pan, crankshaft, distributor, and camshaft. Hence, the name for the 702 V12s----Twin-six.

Have fun with the new toy, and hope you hear her breath "fire and thunder" soon. Sweet old engines, but fuel hungry.

I think I'll fix it myself, and pay the extra $500.
