Default GMC Brochure 1960-1961

Scored this brochure at a local marketplace.
Has a lot of interesting info in it, such as 2503 model with the 9ft bed.

Anyone knows of this particular brochure? Can't remember seeing one on Jolly's website (cannot access his site anymore)

From 1960 or 1961, what do you think? Can't find a date on it.

Yes it’s 60-61 Prowbar. Look for a date or print/release on the back lower right.

I have one as well, it was the main item dealers gave away to poss. buyers, I have been collecting the GMC stuff for a long time, what's rare is the comic book U.S. owner's manual, hard to find them.

Appreciate the info. Good call Funky, it says 4-60, i.e. April of 1960.

What I also found interesting it that the oil filter was optional then. It says so in the spec sheet on the last page.

Quigley's truck did not come with an Oil Filter.

Default Re: GMC Brochure 1960-1961

I know at least for my 1938 Buick having no oil filter was a selling point. One less item to worry about, and it made maintenance a little bit cheaper/easier.

Again, this info is for my Buick. They had a super fine, floating mesh on the pickup tube. It would float to stay on top of the oil, where it was theoretically cleaner, while all the dirt and debris would settle to the bottom of the oil pan. If the pickup screen ever got clogged it was designed to collapse from the force of the oil pump, which allowed it to act as a bypass valve.

For a 60-61 GMC I would think the oil filter being optional is kinda like window cranks in modern trucks. Just a cost saving option for fleet trucks and whatnot. But that's nothing more than a guess.
