I've been watching for a 4X4 gmc, a friend of mine has a short step side 4X4 '65 GMC, it's awesome!

I have sort of been considering buying a 4x4 GMC too but I am one of those guys who doesn't want a longbed truck of any year or model unless there is a real good reason like rare options, super solid etc. So what I cannot seem to even find pictures of is a GMC of any 60's vintage that is 4x4 AND shortbox.

Does anybody know why I can't even see one someone else has bought? are the short bed 4x4's just plain gobbled up by hoarders or nonexistent?

My old neighbor has a short bed step side factory 4x4. I want a short bed to build into my daily driver and a long bed for a work truck, I don't like long beds that much, but it can fit a full sheet of plywood and I might be able to get away with not having a job site trailer if it all fits in my work truck.

Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm really loving my '64 4WD!

I will post some more pictures this weekend.

I have also recently "discovered" that GMC made a 2.5-3 ton factory 4x4... model KV4000... if anyone has any information or knows of one for sale, please let me know.

GMCNUT...
There was a 1965 GMC SWB 4x4 on ebay last week... owner claimed it was rare... likely many of the 1960-66 4x4s were built more for utility, therefore most were LWB.

I was just talking to the guy that bought that truck! I don't recall it being a SWB though. Still looks great.

there was no factory 4bys above 3/4 tons, 1 ton and above were napco conversions done at dealerships or some other source
