"Lots of rust" depends on what part of the country you live in, I'm sure. Out here in the west we would consider that a rusty truck. For folks who live where they use salt on the roads in the winter (unlike the volcanic cinders used here) that truck would probably be considered relatively rust-free.
Here's a typical west coast truck. This is the '66 I restored several years ago. It had only a little surface rust underneath the floor mat when stripped down for painting.

I think you've just gotten to lucky Ed. lol My GMC isn't to bad, but both my chevys had their share of rot and they are west coast trucks.
