Arrow 196? GMC 4000 B-model

Hi, I'm a bit new to this forum and to owning a vintage GMC.
I found my beauty at a private impound lot just a few miles away. It was love at first sight in all its rusty beauty lol. I don't know much about american vehicles I've only worked on european cars so I don't know of any good places to buy parts or places to find information. So if anyone could help me with that I'd appreciate it!

Welcome SC from SoCalif. What's the history of the truck and how about some photos of the V6 and the interior dash as well. Keep it stock or this maybe...
Here is a photo from another forum of a B-model Hot Rodded up. Either way, cool truck.

South Carolina actually, I don't know the history sadly other than it has a Fontaine flatbed. I plan on keep it pretty much stock I think it looks bad-a now. It does have some rust issues in the floor pan and doors but thats expected. The guy I bought it from owns a towing service and he towed it to me on his semi for free, thought that was pretty cool, and he just dropped it off today so I get some more pics tomorrow and try to get her started!

P.S. thats a awesome truck

Have you rescued one of these trucks before? Theres a few guys here with big trucks that really dig the factory look. i bet they will offer some good tips as you go along.

If you dont have a maintenance manual you can find one on evilbay. The one manual covers 1000-5000 models.

Its a 1964-66 truck, cab style narrowed that down. Still downloading your pics...

Too many of these truck have been cut down to one ton chassis, or lowered, not many kept stock, which is too bad as at some point in the future thats he way people will think they come from the factory, I say keep it stock so that some history is saved as it should be.

They can be fun trucks, but you need to run with the bigger truck owners a little more, so also beside this fine group, check out the American Truck Historical Society, you can find a link to they forum on my site, the 6066 GMC Guy.

Also see my site for the double cluster setup GMC had in a lot of the bigger trucks, you can find them in other large trucks and mix & match the parts to bould what you want, I have one I built onthe site.

Whats the vin number?

Looking at the photos, I see your door are rusted, but the good news is, a door from a pickup will work, you just need to cut the lower front corner off, there is even a line on the door to show you were to cut.

Your Vin tells us this:

B = B-Model
V = Vacuum-Hydraulic Brakes
H = Heavy Duty
40 = series 4000
12 = wheelbase, 187 inches
F = series 1964-66
1010 = serial number, 10 unit built that year
G = DOT GVW Rating.

The vin number should made this a 1964 or 1965.
