Default Another new guy

Hi guys, Ken here. Found this forum while searching for info on the GMC V6 engines. I have a 67 GMC 1/2ton 4x4. It currently has a 327 in it but it came from the factory with a V6. I have a line on a 351 V6 pretty close to me and wanted to do some research and figure out what I need to do to go that route (or if I want to) The motor is in another 67 and he wants to put something else in. So it might be a good deal provided it runs.

You will need motor mount frame brackets from a 4wd V6 truck as well as the V6 bellhousing, flywheel and clutch to bring it back to the V6. The 351 is a good choice

A 67 4x4 is a sweet ride! Post some pics if you can. I think you will find that most folks on this site will urge you to stick with a GMC V6. And they will help you a lot as you can see from bigblock's post. I personally love the V6's.

It's actually got a turbo 400 behind it right now, he is going to give me all the connections and motor mounts and everything I need to bolt it up to my Turbo 350. It's in a 2wd 67 3/4 ton right now, were those motor mounts different between 2 and 4wd?

The motor mounts are the same between 2wd and 4wd though automatic use a different motor mount than manual transmissions do. You're staying with an automatic transmission so you'll be fine, you just need the proper cross member motor mount brackets from a 4wd that had a V6 but you may need to re-drill new holes since 4wd V6 equipped trucks never lived to see the day with an automatic trans.
