Drain pan removal
Help guys:
The exhaust cross over is still in place and won't allow the drain pan to come out. does any body know if it will slip out if I remove the flywheel? |

You talking about the oil pan? or the flywheel cover? Whatever it is, you don't remove the flywheel. Drop the exhaust down or raise motor depending on what you are talking about. 305 V6 motor? Year of truck? You must be talking oil pan. You have unbolted it, dropped it down and can't get it out? Unbolt crossover exhaust from manifold and from tail pipe, and detach pipe hangers/clamps to get it out. You know, wiggle, jiggle and cuss.

ken thanks for your help. working on a 62/w 305. been soaking the 6 exhaust flange bolts /w pb blaster for 2 weeks. not good access to the rear flange bolts. I have the clutch out. I removed all the oil pan bolts but it won't come out. It looks like it might clear the cross member if the fly wheel is out of the way

Cut the exhaust flange bolts off. They are just bolts. Sawsall/grinder/torch....or... Cut the pipe and reweld....or unbolt the manifolds.,..crazy ideas. Take off flywheel if you want to. Won't hurt my feelings. What the heck are you doing? New oil pump? Don't play with it, drive it

Remove the cross over pipe however way you choose. Those flange bolts are a lot of trouble to get out. Then remove the flywheel cover but not the flywheel. Then loosen the rear motor mounts and the transmission mount. Put a hydraulic jack under the front portion of the transmission case and slowly lift it up an inch or so. That pan should slide back and down with just enough clearance to get past the flywheel. I took off the oil filter and it's canister also, just to give you a little more working room. Good luck with those exhaust bolts.

Foley, Thanks for the help. I just finished pulling the front clip. Now i have better access to the exhaust bolts. I only have 2 left but both heads are rounded off. time to break out the chisels and cutting tools
