Default 305A Engine Identification

I am hoping someone might have some insight on identifying my engine Serial number. I have a 1960 GMC with the 305A engine. The thing that I'm unfamiliar about is my engine is stamped 305 and no other numbers. There is a tag wired to the block with 034 stamped on it. Did they not fully stamp the early models or something? Here are pics for reference. Any insight would be appreciated.

Matt

this is a replacement short block. the replacement engines did not have the engine serial # stenciled in the block. the dealer was supposed to stencil the original s/n on the block that the replacement replaced.

Lewis thank you for the answer! I have been scouring internet to figure it out. Now I question which model of the 305 this. I had assumed it was a 305A. Is there an easy way to determine which version (A-E) this is?
