Default What is it for??

Look at this picture I pulled off the web where someone is selling a 305 V6 air cleaner; see that cable wrapping almost all the way around the engine and clamped in what surely looks to be a GM-made clamp on the intake?

Anyone ever seen such a cable and what does it do if so? was this a rare GM or Dealer add-on?

Dealer add-on - choke ON, choke OFF - dash would dual (2) push/pull knobs to control - and most likely had a third (3) push/pull control knob for the cruise control. Happy New Year!

Here are a couple of photos of the factory optional hand throttle that Dad ordered on our '65 one ton Suburban. The cable is just above the throttle linkage in the first photo. It's hooked to the knob with the "T" on it to the right of the steering column in the second photo. Dad always called it his "poor man's cruise control". Worked better in flat Kansas where he lived than here in hilly Oregon!
