Default Hoods

So our 65 GMC came with a Chevy hood that has damage up front.I wanted a GMC hood and found one in a junk yard that appeared to be in decent shape .Once cleaning it up and hitting it with a sander I found rot on bottom sides closer to cab .The structural support inside also has some rot . First thought was to take the support and cut patch panels out of the white Chevy hood. Then I thought why not just replace the Chevy nose piece with the green GMC.Along with a front side patch off the green hood. After setting them on edge side by side you can see the difference in the two.GMC appears to be taller, but they are very close to the same height . Although the hood latch seems to be a little different in height.Only about 3/8 to 1/2 inch .I'm sure there's adjustments in that. The hood hinge bolt holes apear to be the same.
Any suggestions or input on what to expect if I take the GMC nose and put on Chevy hood?
Thanks

Mule:
There are a lot of spot welds to changing the nose. Also, Chevy hood is very likely to end up with rust in the same corners. If you have the skill to change the nose, then welding new steel in to fix the corners would be simple in comparison with a much more lasting result.

Hope that helps.
