Default 351E gaskets

Ok, so I have a general question on obtaining gaskets for a 351E. I mean all gaskets, I was hoping to clean the engine up a bit and replace some gaskets, I wanted to strip the intake, valley pan, oil pan, and valve cover etc...to clean and repaint the motor the proper red. However, I can't find many of the gaskets! I can find oil pan, valve covers and timing cover but that's it. My biggest concern is the intake manifold, I can find a 315C set but not sure if it's the same regarding port size, I know the 351E has a larger port design. Are the diesel gasket sets the same?
I'm sure there's years of working knowledge out there regarding this issue, can anyone please shed some light on this subject for me? Any info would be much appreciated. There has to be something out there!

Hello Bryan - I got a overhaul gasket set for my 351E/M from Olsen's Gasket - they are from Washington State if I remember correctly. I can get you the full details if you want. Cliff

Hey Guys - yes, I purchased a set from Olsen's - needed them, what do you do?: That's how I knew they have them - thought I would let everyone know instead of everyone chasing the wind. Very happy with the gaskets!

Bryan:
I got lucky when I put my 351E together during the summer and found intake and exhaust gaskets on E bay. The Fel Pro numbers you are searching for are 90065 and 90066 for a magnum engine like the 351E. Other than those two and the base gasket for the carburetor, the rest of a 305 gasket set will work in your 351E. Rock Auto shows a full 305 gasket set at $71, via part number FEL-PRO Part # FS7961SB1 . Some folks mount the exhaust manifolds without gaskets and just use a sealant, so that can be a solution there. What it comes down to is the intake gasket. I traced my 90065 gaskets on cardboard before I installed them so that I could make a template should I ever need a replacement. Let me know if that would be helpful to you. Another method that a friend showed me a long time ago is to put gasket paper against the manifold and tap around all of the openings with a small ball peen hammer to transfer the outline to the paper so that you can cut it out. So, it is not hopeless. Just a bit of a challenge. Hope something in here is helpful to you.

Steve

Olson replied back to me about 2 weeks ago with $490.00 for a set. I'm guessing the price has gone up with all the inquiries. It's really the intake I'm worried about the most, they do sell the intake separately for $45. I'm thinking a 305 set for $71 from RockAuto and a $45 intake is a decent investment. Just want to get her cleaned and sealed up before I stuff her back in. Motor ran fine but faulty valve cover gaskets gummed up the motor pretty good. I'm realizing you have to adapt and over come with these old motors. I'm still open for all kinds of advice, thanks guys!

Bryan:
" I'm thinking a 305 set for $71 from RockAuto and a $45 intake is a decent investment" - I think that is a good plan. The folks at Olsen sound like mercenaries asking $490 for the full gasket set.

Steve

Andice:
Thanks for the link. Denver City came through with a set of 90065 intake gaskets for me for $35 with shipping.
