What's this do?
OK, it's a riser block for a two-barrel carb off my 351 "Machine shop orphan."
Didn't have one on my 401 out of a New Idea harvester. Does it enhance drivability, etc? Trying again to post pix Last edited by Mike Caldwell; September 23rd, 2022 at 12:24 AM. |

Re: What's this do?
The spacer under the carburator increases low end torque - such as when a truck engine is when pulling from a low rpm throttle position. Equipment like the Uni-System farm unit was basically held at constant rpm during operation. Uni -System built by New Idea had numerous machinery applications that could be changed as the need arose - from chopping corn silage, picking cotton and other tasks. Much like today's modern combine does by switching header platforms.
