Default Suburban slider window latch differences

The latches I have on my 61 suburban are different then the reproductions. My type are the ones without the tangs.

I am wonder when and why the change occurred?

If you have a suburban, would you mind taking a look to see which style you have in yours. Also state what year you have, Thanks.

Hello Funky,
Can you be a little more specific?
1. You are showing yours, right?
2. Are you saying yours are original?
3. Do you have a link or pic showing what "tang" you are talking about that yours does not have?
4. What is the reason for the question? What is the concern?

Sure thing AZken;

1. Mine is shown on the right or the shorter one overall

2. I believe them to be original

3. I call it a "tang" you might refer to it as something else (look at the Last photo) the two little raised up end pieces

4. The question addresses originality and year specific parts particular to suburban's.

1. All the aftermarket on internet have tabs.
2. Aftermarket manufacturer not going to add tabs for no reason.
3. Your truck is early, possible design change, hard to document. They is some evidence of 60-63 and 64-66 latches.
The GM part no. is 3763434 supposedly.
4. Don't know what tabs are for.

Henry -- My '62 Suburban has the style with the "tangs" as you call them. However, I have both styles in my stash of spare parts, removed from junkyard Suburbans so long ago that I have no idea what years they were from.

Hello Ed, I did find an old "For Sale" listing, for the style I have original to my suburban, that stated they were from a 60-61 GMC.

A theory I have after looking at how they attach to the glass and lock in, is maybe the reproduced version is an improvement in contact area to prevent snapping or cracking the glass in that area; best guess.
