Default 1964 GMC powersteering

Hello

Question for the experts. I have 2 complete sets of v-6 powersteering set ups with engine brackets. Has anybody used a powersteering pump from a 64 with a later model powersteering box kit? Does the pump put out enough pressure/volume. Thanks for any info. Jeff

Sorry i can't help, but I'll give you a bump! I do know that lots of people put 70's model pumps on because you can get them for dirt cheap through wrecking yards. Heck, even a new saginaw isn't very expensive from NAPA.

Some people are like slinkys. Not worth much but funny as heck when pushed down stairs.

i'm using the older factory pump, with a 73 to 87 steering gear. works great, had to have a custom pressure hose made. you will need to buy installation kit for gear, i think i got mine from cpp, but not sure.

Thanks for the info. Probably the same kits I see on eBay with the box and brackets? You have to shorten the steering shaft also correct. No problems with the frame at the steering box cracking? Jeff

No just curious. I remember the later model frames would crack around the mount holes. Jeff

For the hoses, NAPA ( I sound like a napa commercial) can make your hoses for you too at a reasonable price.
