Default Radio antenna install questions

I am trying to put my truck back together after body work and repainting. I bought a radio antenna to go in the passenger side fender extension, and have found that the hole in it is too small. This 1966 GMC truck belonged to my wife's grandpa and never had a radio. My questions:What could the hole(11mm in size) be for? And what would be the best way to size it for an original style antenna? If I can figure out how, I will post some photos. Thanks

Rusty I made a video on how to post pics here. http://6066gmcclub.com/forum/showthr...ewpost&t=48107

You said the fender extension, do you mean that little cowl cover right between the door and the fender/hood? That's where the radio antenna goes. I found one that was almost a spittin image of my original one on Ebay. Here's my writeup on it. I dont know if it helps. Cant think of what else would have been there though. Maybe CB antenna?

Some people are like slinkys. Not worth much but funny as heck when pushed down stairs.

The hole was for a different antenna. Since you have the antenna you want to instal, measure it and either use a step drill or several bits to graduallopen up the hole. Use masking tape over the area to keep the cuttings from scratching the finish. Take a little time, it should work out fine.

Wow, Truck looks GREAT!! Be careful when cutting antenna hole in the cowl, that it is in the right spot. If your antenna is like mine was it has a bunch sticking out the bottom and if the hole is in the wrong spot you won't have clearance. Dave

Thanks for the advice. There is already a hole in the part. I hope I can enlarge it and do the install.

I have a slightly different issue. I bought a LMC antenna (70.00) and I have the factory hole. But the antenna sits at about a 30 degree angle inboard. The base is premade and angled, the only thing I can think of is to grind down the base to a lesser/ lower angle.

The look is making me a but crazy
