Default New Thread! Replacing the Carb on a 351e V6?

Ok, It's been a while, but I did get a timing light and adjusted the timing. I still think it's a carb issue. I ordered a new vacuum advance, so I'll replace that and see if it still backfires on high rpms. I doubt that will fix it.

I want to make it a daily driver so I may replace the whole carb altogether. Does anyone know the right carb model and order number, and do they make a new carb for the 351e V6? I'm wondering if I'll need a special adapter to make it work?

I looked at Summit, and LMC, but can't really tell. No one ever lists the 351e.
Thanks for any info guys, I'm still pretty new at this, but I'm learning. I love this truck and want it on the road.

Does it backfire on deceleration? Or under load. Also I think you may have some valve adjustment issues.

Just when I step on it or shift into 4th, so under load like going up a hill, it backfires out of the carb.

Most of the time this is caused by a lean condition. Some crud in the carb or an accelerator pump problem. But I see a lot of soot in the top area of the carb. So I think you have an intake valve that is adjusted to tight and is leaking hot gas back into the intake and ignighting the incoming air fuel mix. This is always more pronounced at low vacuum at WOT. The valve lash hot is .012 intake .018 exhaust .

Most people are happy with the 500cfm two barrel part #4412. It sure woke up my 305!

Mr. Gasket makes an adapter part#1937 if I remember correctly.

Thanks man! Is the 305 similar to my 351? Just wondering if those part numbers will work for the 351. Sorry, I don't really get the differences between the two.

The 351 is different...
If you click on Jolly's page in the upper left and then go to performance and then 500cfm Holley it tells you what to do to mount it on a 351.

Where did you order it from and were you able to get the adapter plate for the 351? Is the carb 0-4412c or just 0-4412?

The Mr. Gasket #1937 adapter won't work with the trapezoid base 351E Magnum manifold, A few years back I machined up 20 or so adapters for the trapezoid base manifold and sold them off to the members of this site. A few have switched over to 4bbl carbs so someone may have an extra adapter. Another alternative is convert your existing manifold to a 4bbl, it's a relatively easy procedure that does not require welding.
